My name is André Carvalho, I'm 18 years old and I'm Portuguese. In the 10th year, I chose the visual arts course.
Since I was a kid I make cartoons about the subjects they gave at school, I presented works through drawings made by me and I was invited to make drawings/cartoons to present the school's annual themes.
I always had a great passion for drawing and I dream of being a cartoon animator and, therefore, I intend to take a degree in the area of Art & Design.
Me
A lot of things inspire me to do the work that I have done so far. Things like animations, drawings, games, and even music inspire me. My work can be found in my portfolio.
Big inspirations:
1st: LINKIN PARK
When I was a baby (2/3 years old) my mom and my dad enjoyed listening to Linkin Park, and that, indirectly, affected me.
When I listen to Linkin Park, I hear a unique sound that no other band or singer has ever done. Sadly this band doesn't much because one of the vocalists, Chester Bennington, passed away in July 2017, but I still hear their music to this very day.
Every song they have, for me, is great. They are all different and they sometimes can use new things, like instruments or even a new style, and I like to relate myself to this band because that is exactly what my goal is.
2nd: STEVEN UNIVERSE
The time that I saw this show on Cartoon Network, I was really surprised by the style of the show. The style of Steven Universe can be described as a modern 2D Disney show. It was one of the main cartoons that got me my unique cartoon style.
This Cartoon Network show was created by Rebbeca Sugar, being the first animated series to be directed by a woman.
