Teasers or Trailers?

A teaser is a technique used in marketing to attract attention in a university campaign. Teasers were born from the word "tease" and, therefore, aims to attract the public to a final product.

There are no rules for making a teaser, we can have the freedom to produce it as we want, but we must define the objective we want when we want to make a teaser.

The idea of the teaser is to excite the audience, without saying everything. In other words, we only show one part to create expectations and curiosity. The intention is to captivate the public's interest, just as we do with trailers.

The trailer is a summary of a film, showing part of its content. It shows scenes from the film, tells the plot and the objective is the same as that of the teaser, captivating the audience's interest.

The question is: will my project be better to make a teaser or a trailer?

The answer, right now, is a teaser. But why? A teaser is to announce a product, such as an animation, which will be released months later. It has less content than a trailer, which usually appears shortly before a movie is released. A teaser lasts for about a minute and does not give details of what will happen in the animation. These are the reasons that led me to choose a teaser.

As I did in the post entitled "Animation trailers", I also went to see several teasers to be able to understand the logic of its construction and outline a scheme to be able to build mine.

See the following links for examples:

1.

(15) Raya and the Last Dragon | Official Teaser Trailer - YouTube - Raya and the Last Dragon | Official Teaser Trailer

This teaser is over a minute long but is considered a mix between a teaser and a trailer. One reason for this is that it has a long duration, but it doesn't tell us much about the story. We are curious about what we are seeing, which is the main intention of the teaser.

2.

This teaser has the appropriate duration and is able to arouse interest in the story without revealing many details about it.

3.

A very good example of what a teaser is, captivating for the 2D animation film
