ICE BREAKER: SELF PORTRAIT

In today's class, we had to do a self-portrait using tools that we had. It could be a photo, a painting, or digital artwork. I decided to do a drawing that would represent myself

First I decided to do a drawing of me as an animal and using a different art style from my own.

(showing between my old style and my new one)

On this drawing, I finally draw a nose and a more realistic body as training. I was going to do something similar to a cat, but then gave me the idea of doing it with my favorite animal: A Bat!

So with this sketch of my drawing, I was ready to do it digitally. Using a program that I've used multiple times, "Krita".

Final work

The colors and the drawing itself came entirely from my head.

The main reason for me to choose the bat was mainly of the animal being my favorite. They are incredible animals and it was my time to try something new. The new things that I've tried on this work were changing completely my art style and I draw an animal that I've never drawn before.

Things that I would improve is to do a better line when drawing on my computer, meaning that I still need to train more with this program and draw more with it. But apart from that, I think it turned out very good and I enjoyed doing it.

  1. When you use statements like 'the bat is an incredible animal' you should back that up with a reason otherwise it is just a throwaway comment. Overall a decent post that identifies the work you need to do in terms of working with specific kinds of software for your project. It is important to begin research into the software you want to use in more detail so you are well prepared when you come to make your final outcomes, so there should be a series of posts in the coming weeks demonstrating your experimentation.
