Redesign of my characters
When I did research on expressionist artists, I realized how I could make/create my characters in an expressionist style. Observing the characters we usually play, I saw that they were not very similar to what expressionism was. I still tried to darken some of the traits of the characters to capture the dark air of expressionism, but when looking at my characters, I was able to analyze my first characters a little more and said:
"They are very cute"
With that, I realized my own mistake, the characters are harmonious and cute for an expressionist animation. I had to rethink my characters and see what elements I should give them. While thinking, I made a list of what I should and shouldn't do this time
- Don't make proportional and harmonious characters.
- Try to make the characters express more feelings just for the way they are.
- Create the characters with exaggerated proportions and some aspects I will try to deform so that their characteristics can tell a story through their own image.
One of the fundamental aspects of having managed to change my drawings and somehow bring expressionism closer to me were the artists I researched and their work.

This is a big improvement - looking forward to seeing how these develop. We are going to be looking at character drawing and proportion this week in the class - it is important to remember that although there are rules to proportion, these can be stretched (literally) to fit what you are trying to do with your character.
