Considering my work in the real world
During today's class, we discussed different artworks that changed the world. We had to think about how our project would in turn affect the world.
What influence could your project have in the real world?
Will your project show a point of view or show something that might make people think differently?
What influence could your project have in the real world?
When I started my project, I wanted to take something from the Japanese culture and make it into anime. There I found out that they love Robots and there embrace AI. Most people in Europe or in America think that robots or AI can be dangerous.
My project will teach people about AI. Most films or television series always make AI seem like a very bad thing for humans, and I wanted to change that.
On japan, people take robots as a good thing for their population. They think that a robot or an AI can do specific tasks that a human couldn't do. This sounds bad at first because people think that "Robots and AI will take over the world", but that's not true. Robots and AI can't have one thing that humans have, which is imagination.
This means that jobs that would take a lot for a human to do would take a shorter time for robots because they don't need breaks. This makes lives easier for everyone. In my animation, I will show the main character (a robot) doing a task that would be difficult for a human to do, physically and mentally.
Will your project show a point of view or show something that might make people think differently?
I will make people think differently about AI and robots. The way I will do that is by making the robot as friendly and very close to a human as possible, so people can relate with the character as much as possible. The animation will be in English so people from all the places can see it and change their mind.
How else does your work have influence?
I will, not only make the character very close to humans so people can relate with the character, but also make the animation rated for everyone. The story of the animation is more suitable for teens, but everyone can watch it with no problem.
Why is it important?
It's important to make people less scared about robots. One day in the future, we will be around robots all the time, and if a lot of people are scared of them, it's going to be a problem.
Very good - well directed, it seems that you have been thinking about the role your project and research would play in a real world scenario. The influence aspect is interesting - it is not just how the character looks, but the behaviour aspect will be impactful on the viewer, the situations that the character could potentially be in - how relatable will this be?
