The anatomy of...

During this week, we were assigned to create a blog based on the anatomy related to our project. Because my project is around an animation, I had to do something called: A storyboard cheat sheet. This is basically a sheet that helps animators to set up their scenes depending on what they want.

Here are the drawings I did to help me with my animation:

  1. Full
  2. Medium
  3. Close
  4. Extreme close
  5. Upshot
  6. Down shot
  7. Worm’s eye view
  8. Bird’s eye view
  9. Over the shoulder
  10. View through OL
  11. View through Binocular mask
  12. 2 Shot
  13. Truck in
  14. Truck out
  15. CCW Rotation Truck in
  16. CW Rotation Truck out

This training allowed me to make some interesting angles with my character, allowing me to study it and perfect my style with it. Some shots I didn’t draw with the character because they were simple and not needed for my character to be there, this is because they are only for me to understand what shot works for each scenario.

Here is the link for the complete sheet of all the angles and shots possible: http://www.floobynooby.com/ANI200/sbcs1.pdf

  1. Floobynooby is one of the best places I have found for these kinds of 'cheat' sheets. They cut through all the stuff you don't need and go directly to what is important, setting up drama and tension in animation. Good use of angles and shot selections here. Are you working on a series of these storyboard sheets?
