Storyboard and Animation #1

I plan to make some posts showing the progress of my animation project and this will be the first. When I make an animation, I build a set of ideas that relate to the initial idea and that develop it. There are also necessarily changes, be they simpler or more complex. This is related to some attempts that in practice may not work so well when you actually go to the work of animating.

One of the first notes is that I've decided to change the character's name for something simpler and easier to say.

The Storyboard has several stages and the first one I'm going to show is up to the scene where the title appears.

This is the introduction of the animation. I will simply show the space where the animation will take place. Most of the scenes have names labeled so it's easier to understand where it belongs and some have text explaining what is happening (for being harder to understand just by looking).

There will be a 2nd character called the commander. This character has no drawing development because it will be represented as a voice in the call scene. The commander will have a few lines and the voice will be generated by a program online, the voice can be compared somehow similar to google translate.

For the title screen I would show the logo I design for this animation. I've talked about potential logos for my animation in the past, but now I've got the final sketch. I did an exercise in class that I had to draw basic drawings related to my project, and I used this to see what would be fitting for my logo.

From these 6 drawings, I was looking for some change that I could do to my logo to add more interest. After some thinking, I decided to leave the main logo be as it is so it does not add complexity to it.

After this, I went to my animation program to see if it all ok (This is because my computer went through repairing). I did a simple animation as a test.

As we can see, all are working for the animation. It's not finished, but as I said, it's only a test. Now the only things missing are the rest of the storyboard and a finalized logo. After I complete that I can continue on the animations and have everything come together.

  1. Andre, we are very close to the deadline and there is much to do here in terms of completing your 2D and 3D work and adding a reflective post. You will also need to post updates on your website to demonstrate how you have improved it.
