SMART OBJECTIVE TERM 3

As in the previous semesters, he was asked to present SMART Objective for the project of this term. The moment when we decide our goals is important because it makes us reflect on the project as a whole and on what we intend to achieve within a realistic vision.

In this way, I specify my SMART objectives:

S- Specific
What do I want to create?

I want to do an animation that has the themes of Space and Robots together. The style of my drawing will have an Oriental way, more specifically from Japan, and I will be using the Manga style for my animation. The animation will be 12 fps and around 1-2 minutes.

With that, I will also do some 3D scenes for posters with paper, cardboard, etc.

The animation will have the story that I've told in my last post: https://andrecomicblog.blogspot.com/2021/04/tell-me-story.html

All this will be a target to teens between 12-16, meaning that the animation, in general, is family-friendly but children can be confused about the complex story.

Unlike the last term, I will try to have more details in my animation and posters, this being one of the aspects of anime. I will be researching Japanese culture, anime (techniques and animators), and cartoons for teens.

M- Measurable
How will I know achieved it?

I will know when the animation has all the story in it and when I have all the posters. They will be up on my portfolio. The animation will be displayed first with a small text to explain the animation and the posters.

I will be using Sketchbook to animate, Adobe premier for editing sound and visual effects, and I will take photos with my camera to make the posters and use photoshop to correct any mistakes.

A- Achievable
Is it in my power to accomplish it?

Last term I did a 5-minute animation. Now I know that I will be able to successfully finish the project of this term. I realized my weaknesses, the time I need to overcome them.

R- Realistic
Can I realistically achieve it?

I have 7 weeks to prepare everything and work on my animation. The strategy I have is to draw a lot and start the animation earlier. I will plan my time well and I will be able to complete the project, just like in the previous semester.

T- Timely
When exactly do I want to accomplish it?

I want to have the project done at the beginning of the seventh week. That way, I can still review some details, correct some flaws and reflect on the whole process.

I think that by outlining my SMART objectives, I can get a clear and concise idea of the work I am going to do. Now the next step is to do research and learn about the theme I chose, Oriental Surprise, and consolidate the ideas of my animation and the drawings that I will do.

Comments

  1. Your SMART objective is quite clear, but could be a bit clearer in a couple of areas. In term 2 you created an animation in black and white - judging by your initial character design in an earlier post, you are including colour. It would be interesting to see you investigate what specific colours signify and how you intend to use them. Also, your 3D outcome could be more ambitious in terms of what you make and how you push yourself or make what you are intending a little clearer.
