Reflection of the project

With this post, I intend to reflect on both the evolution of my work and the way I felt during the whole process. When the idea for this project came up, which I kept in its essential features, I changed a lot. First, the battles I waged to get the drawings to have something of influence from Expressionism. I still have doubts, if I shouldn't have exaggerated some scenarios, deforming them more and making a more intense play of lights. Every time I do work, I like to make it big and impressive. I do that so I can be proud of myself. For this work, I tried to do the best I could in this short time to see what would happen. In this project, I improved how I can do animation in a very short time. I used techniques of my own to save time and do the max I could in a very short time. I tried that the idea of being inspired by expressionism did not totally abandon me, because it is not something I have ever done. I worked hard, sometimes wondering if I could end up as I had thought. And...

Final website

Image
The website I built came from some research I had done on how to build a website. I already had a website where my portfolio was, but I wanted to build a totally new one. The details I was concerned with were much more technical than aesthetic. The website was built with the aim of promoting and making my work known in the area of 2D animation. Initially, my website had a simple layout, which I wanted to keep. The big problem was in terms of aesthetics, as I show in the following example: I wanted to keep the website simple, even in terms of layout, fonts, colors, menu, among other aspects. But the truth is that in aesthetic terms the website was not doing well. I then tried to work on the fonts and colors that appeared. I canceled out the flourishing green, which was very exaggerated and a little childish. I tried to create a more professional layout and some letters with some design and easy to read at the same time. My goal was to engage the target audience with my work and ...

Animation process - Walking animation

Image
One of the parts of my animation is completed, and I decided to show it today so I could explain better how my animation will work. First, I will show the final product and then I will explain what I did to achieve it. So, for this animation, I started by doing the main animation in Sketchbook. Because I couldn't do the background in the animation right away, I had to use a green screen so I could add the background later. Here's the animation without background or sound: After this, I got to draw the background that I had to use for this shot. For this, I draw 4 drawings. The floor The railings The first layer of buildings (the drawings don't need to be perfect because they will be in the background) The second layer of buildings  (They are more simply because they will have a lot of objects in front of them) With the drawings done, I had to make the character and the background work together. With this, I used a technique called "parallax", which I've done r...

Website Update

Image
(photo for the blog) This week I decided to make my website more user-friendly and nicer. I took a good look at my website and I thought of many things: The website looks empty The colors are not very good The logo isn't very good and my name is in an awkward place The portfolio has no way of having both works showing at different places I decided to change how my website worked and making it more user-friendly. First I wanted to change the website for a more black and white style, the reason being is that it goes along with my style of drawing. Then I deleted the logo from my website and used a more interesting title. I reorganized the buttons to be on the top of my website so people could navigate faster.  Some of the fonts of the letters on my website were also changed to suit it. These changes made my website look more unique and interesting, and one of the big changes was the background of the website. The background is now a drawing that I made for the animation "Pande...
